Merchant Center: catalog, statuses and issues
What Admetriva brings in from Google Merchant Center, how products are linked to campaigns and why the catalog history starts from the first sync.
On this page
You choose the Merchant Center account in Google settings, after connecting your Google account. It is optional for campaigns, but required for the product catalog and for the link between the promoted products and the ones in the feed.
What is imported
- Products from the catalog: the product ID (
offer_id), title, image, price, availability and status. - Product issues reported by Google, for example a disapproved or ineligible product.
- Merchant account issues.
The Catalog page shows the raw list from Merchant Center. The Products page combines it with performance from Google Ads. See Product performance.
How a product is linked to campaigns
Google Ads reports performance by the Merchant Center product ID. Admetriva links the performance row to the catalog product in this order: a link you set manually, identical ID, identical ID after normalization (lowercase, no spaces), unique GTIN, unique MPN. If two products match equally well, the link stays “ambiguous” and is shown as such: Admetriva does not pick a winner.
The product ID is not a SKU. A separate SKU does not come from Merchant Center, so Admetriva does not show one.
Catalog history
Merchant Center only provides the current state of the catalog. Admetriva builds its history starting with the first sync. Earlier prices, availability or images cannot be rebuilt.
How often it updates
The catalog is re-imported periodically, together with the project's sync. After each import, the links with Google Ads performance are recalculated, so that a new product or a changed ID is picked up.
When an import fails
A product that cannot be written does not stop the whole import: the rest of the products are imported, and the run is marked as partial and gets fixed at the next sync. Errors are shown in Data and synchronization.
